Free Printable: Summer Bucket List 2013

Woohoo! It's time for SUMMER!
You don't even know how excited I am.
We still have 17 days of school til we're official,
but I say SUMMER starts after Memorial Day and so begins the FUN!
So it's time to print off your Bucket List for 2013 and gather the kids
and make your list for all the fun things you want to do this summer.

This is our Summer Bucket List from last year.
The thing I like about Bucket Lists is that
they are a visual reminder of things I want to do.
So often life gets so crazy and time passes by
and I think - Man! I wanted to do such and such.
This way I have a cute checklist of awesome stuff to do.

TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #144

Well, last week I began a new adventure as the leader
for my church's children's Sunday school.
For the past 4 years I've been working with the teenagers,
so this switch to the 11 and under crowd is a little daunting,
but I'm excited for the challenge.
Since I'm now involved with Cub Scouts and my husband
is the Cub Master I helped put the track together for the
Pinewood Derby.
Lots of fun and so sweet to see the boys hoping for wins!

Now onto TOO Cute Tuesday!

Product Review: The Snugg Case

We are definitely a technology loving family,
and since we like having our gadgets - and they aren't cheap -
it's important to us to protect them and keep them in tip top shape.
Enter The Snugg! - a little case with maximum protection.

I had the opportunity to check out the Snugg Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 case
and I'm super pleased with the experience I've had with it.
It fit my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 perfectly and I really liked the
little velcro strip on the inside to make sure the tablet stayed secure.

It also has the handy little feature of being able to flip and stand up.
This is perfect for when the kids are watching a movie or when I'm using
it to follow a tutorial while sewing and I can keep it at eye level.

So far it's been a sturdy case and I'm happy with the performance
and the protection it's offered my Tab 2.

I also tried out the Snugg Samsung Galaxy S3 Squared cover and got it as a gift
for my husband. He's been looking for a case that offers protection,
has a good grip and looks manly and the Snugg fits the bill!

It fit his phone perfectly and doesn't add too much bulk - which
is something else he was worried about.
I think they would make great Father's Day gifts.

I've been pleased with my experience with The Snugg line of products.
They offer great protection for your mobile and tablet devices at a competitive price.

Disclosure: I received the above products from The Snugg for review purposes. I received no monetary compensation.
All opinions are my own.

The Land of Nod: Coming to South Coast Plaza in California

When I got this email from The Land of Nod about a week ago, I was so excited!!!!!
I've loved this darling whimsical company since I had my first baby almost 8 years ago.
I love that everything they sell is magical and/or practical.
When I peruse their site online or flip through the catalog, I am taken back to a simpler
time when toys were toys and imagination ruled.

My kids could have hour of fun in this rad teepee!
I can see JT playing a Lost Boy and casting Isabella as Tiger Lily.

And since we're big on imaginative play and dress-up and
we all ADORE mustaches, these Incog-Neato Moustaches will go nicely
with our dress-up collection.

I think the thing I love most about The Land of Nod is their storage solutions!
They are so practical and yet so stylish at the same time.
The kids really want to spruce up their room this summer and I promised
that I would give them each a reading shelf near their beds.
I think these book ledges would be the perfect storage option for us.

Up until now, I've only been able to shop via the website or catalog,
but on May 31, 2013 I'll be able to peruse all this Land of Nod loveliness in person!
The Land of Nod is coming to South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA
and the Grand Opening on May 31st is not to be missed!
There will be giveaways happening in the store throughout opening day and free
goodies for those who arrive early to shop.

Are you excited for The Land of Nod to land in California?
What are you most excited to shop for?

Product Review: NewAir Portable Air Conditioner

Anyone that knows me, knows I take my air conditioning very seriously.
I come from a long line of family that take being cool very seriously.
My dad and mom taught me what's important - a seriously cool room.
I'm lucky that I live in a fairly temperate climate,
because of my love of air conditioning, if I lived in Florida or Texas like my siblings,
my electric bill would be insane!
Summer is quickly approaching and it's time to start running the A/C
to keep the indoor temperature just where I like it (about 73 degrees),
so when I was approached with the opportunity to review the NewAir AC-10000E
portable air conditioner - I jumped at the chance!

It just so happened that the day I got the unit from NewAir we were in the 90s
around these parts, so it was the perfect time to test it out.
My husband and I both agreed that we wanted the portable a/c in our bedroom.
We recently got an elliptical machine and I wanted the a/c my bedroom so that
I can keep the room cool during a workout without having to cool
the entire house.
My husband wanted it in our room so that he can sleep at night - even when
it is 90 degrees. He wouldn't let me take pictures of him while he slept,
so you get my experience using the a/c while exercising!

The NewAir AC-10000E portable air conditioner is the perfect size for my bedroom.
It has the ability to cool a 325 square foot space and I love the compact size.
Putting the portable a/c together was really simple.
I just put the extendable window piece in my window, attached the exhaust hose
to the a/c and to the hole in the window piece, and plugged it in.
The room was at about 76 degrees, so I set the thermostat to 72 and let it go.

I hopped on the elliptical, put a little Dance Moms on the TV and
got my workout on. Within 5 minutes the room was cooled to 72 degrees
and I was feeling the exuberance of  a not-too-sweaty workout.

It was also nice to to sit in front of the a/c during my stretching and cool down.
I left it on while I showered and got ready to go out that night.
I can never get cool enough while I'm blow drying and putting my make-up on.
I'd do it in a freezer if I could. After a workout and a shower,
the stress of getting ready seems to up my body temperature,
so I usually sit in front of a fan while I do all my getting ready.
This time I just left the NewAir portable a/c running and the room stayed
cool and I was able to get ready comfortably.

It's a big hit at our house. The kids think it's fun to get a blast of cold air in the face.
It's been a great addition to the house and I can't wait to put it through its paces
during the upcoming summer months.
Plus, my a/c loving mom and dad are more likely to visit if they
can keep their bedroom at a temperature that is acceptable to their low temperature standards.

The NewAir AC-10000E portable air conditioner is the perfect size for my townhome.
It's not too bulky or heavy and the wheels on the bottom make it easy to move around.
I do wish it had a retractable handle - much like carry-on luggage - which would
make it even easier to move around to where it was needed.
It's also fairly quiet in the noise department. Don't get me wrong,
it's not silent, but I was pleasantly surprised at the level of ambient noise it makes.

I'm a fan of this great NewAir product.
If I go to camp with the youth this summer I will definitely be taking
this fun little perk of being a leader with me.
Hey, I'm a Glamper, not a camper!

You can keep up with NewAir on:

Disclosure: I received a NewAir portable air conditioner in exchange for my honest review.
I was not compensated in any other manner. The opinions expressed above are my own.

Teacher Appreciation: School Supply Cake Tutorial

The last theme for Teacher Appreciation week in JT's class was "school supplies".
I had seen cute school supply cakes - much like the famed diaper cakes - around
the world of crafty bloggers and decided to try my hand at one.

The first thing I had to decide on
was what I was going to use as my foundation to build the cake around.
I've seen other craft ladies use nesting boxes, plastic containers, and wrapping paper tubes
as the base. While perusing the dollar store for school supplies I saw pool noodles and thought
it might back the perfect item to build the school supply cake around.

It worked perfectly. I wrapped some tissue paper around it,
just to add a little bulk and so you didn't see the pool noodle peeking out.
Then, I used a rubber band to add my first item - colored pencils.

Then I keep adding items that fit best and kept the shape of the cake.
It was a trial and error process and there were several items that didn't quite work,
so I would take them off and try another item.
For instance, I tried plain white scratch pads, but they were too bulky for the top,
so I switched them out for some mini composition notebooks and they fit perfectly.

After I had everything just like I wanted,
I used some grosgrain ribbon to cute it up and hide the rubber bands.

I loved the little bunting topper that one of the cakes I had seen used,
so I added one to my cake using skewers, baker's twine, and colored paper.

It was just the right touch and added the perfect punch to the cute cake.
You can use whatever cheap school supplies you can find and make them
work for the size of cake you want to build.

I originally thought I was going to give his teacher the cake on top
of a favorite book as the "cake plate", but then I remember the cute paper
trays I found at the Target Dollar Spot during the summer and decided to use that instead.

It was a relatively simple project and the only time involved was the
trial and error in finding which shaped items worked best.

TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #142

Isabella's children's sunday school teacher from last year
is going to have her first baby soon.
Saturday was her baby shower and I made some cute bibs
to give her to celebrate!
It was fun finding machine embroidery designs to put on the bibs.

Now onto TOO Cute Tuesday!
