TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #409

This is the first year in a long time that at least two of my kids aren't wearing coordinating costumes - wah! However, they are both happy and as my friend Jaime put it - the colors are coordinating! :D What are your kids going to be for Halloween? Are you dressing up this year?

2018 Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train

Disclosure: I was given tickets for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
That magical time of year is returning to Orange County when the Irvine Park Railroad decks the train and Santa arrives for the 23rd annual Christmas Train! I love the ambiance created by the twinkle lights, trees, and a train that takes you to Santa. All my childhood dreams of riding on a real life Polar Express come true and it's magical!

The Christmas Train isn't just for Christmas loving adults, the kids love it too! It's such a wonderful Christmas tradition to have as a family. I love to see how excited my kids are to visit with Santa and share their Christmas wishes. He is definitely the best Santa in Orange County. You can take pictures with Santa using your own camera, or you can purchase a 5x7" photo taken by the Irvine Park Railroad.

Some helpful tips you'll want to remember when
coming to ride the Christmas Train:

TIP #1 BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY AND ONLINE!
This is the only way to purchase tickets. Dates and times sell out quickly, so get your tickets as soon as you can! They go on sale at www.IrvineParkRailroad.com on November 1, 2018 this year, so set your alarm!

TIP #2 - ARRIVE EARLY
If you arrive early then you can avoid the crowds and get a good place in line. Plus, you won't be rushed and stressed out! The line to get into the Irvine Regional Park can get busy on the weekends, so make sure you allow extra time for that too.

TIP #3 - DRESS WARMLY
It can get chilly at the North Pole and you don't want to be left shivering. So be sure to dress in layers and don't forget a your scarf. I also recommend close toed shoes to keep your feet warm and cozy!

TIP #4 - DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA
There are so many great photo opportunities that you'll be kicking yourself if you don't bring a camera to catch them all. I love trying to take pictures at all the same spots each year so that I can compare my kids' growth over the year.

TIP #5 - COME HUNGRY
There are lots of yummy treats available for purchase! At the North Pole you can purchase hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn, hot pretzels and cookies from the Elf House Snack Bar. The full kitchen menu is also available at the train station.

One of my favorite parts of the evening is the twinkle lights tunnel. It is so cool! I could drive through it over and over again. When you return to the train station after your visit to the North Pole, you'll want to make sure you have time for Santa's Village.

There are a lot fun activities and fun to be had at Santa's Village. You can do them when the train returns you to the station or you can come early and enjoy them before. My kids love decorating the Christmas cookies and playing the fun carnival games and winning prizes. And everyone is a winner, so you never leave empty handed!

Activities during the Christmas Train include:
Story Time with Mrs. Claus (FREE!)
Christmas Cookie Decorating
Ice Fishing
Carnival Games
Santa Claus Moon Bounce
Blizzard Ball
Christmas Coloring Corner (FREE!)
Picture Stands (FREE!)

SPOOKY Family Fun at Knott's Spooky Farm 2018 #SpookyFarm

Disclosure: We were invited as members of the media to experience Knott's Spooky Farm. All opinions are our own.

It's time once again for the kid-inspired Knott's Spooky Farm celebration at Knott's Berry Farm. This family friendly Halloween celebration takes place during daytime weekends in October 2018 and Halloween day. This spooky (not scary) celebration features activities for kids ages 3-11 - like trick-or-treating through Ghost Town, live shows and a costume contest. One year we won the costume contest with our Peanuts costumes. It is so much fun!

{THE CANDY}
If your kids are like mine, this is what motivates their day at Spooky Farm - get all the candy! As you enter the park the kids get a fun bag for collecting their yummy treats and then you are free to hit up all the treat stops in Ghost Town to collect your booty. They had a really great mix of candy this year and my kids loved it! The best part is that it's included in your Knott's admission price!

{THE SPOOKY CHARACTERS}
I love all the fun and friendly citizens of Calico that are out and about all throughout Ghost Town. They'll measure you for a coffin, stop for an afternoon chat, and maybe do a magic trick or two. They are kind, helpful and hilarious!

I could spend the entire day gabbing with each character and checking out what kind of shenanigans they are up to. They all have great stories to tell and all of my kids love chatting with them,

{CREEPY CRITTERS OF CALICO}
The Livery Stable has once again been transformed by Stanley Scarecrow and his buddies into the Creepy Critters of Calico! Here you can get up close and personal with spiders, snakes, and all other manner of creepy critters. The kids all loved it! You need to check out my Facebook Live video from last year and see all the cool things we saw!

{HALLOWEEN HOOTENANNY}
The Timber Mountain Log Ride has been mystically converted into the Halloween Hootenanny!!! The mysterious creatures that live out in the woods and caverns of Calico are invited to join the citizens of Calico to celebrate the season at the Halloween Hootenanny. You'll see the Calico Coffin Creeper Band, the town's green witch, and splash down Skull Mountain through a labyrinth of jack-o-lanterns. Grace was thrilled that she is (still) tall enough to ride with her big brother and sister.

{GHOST TOWN PUMPKIN PATCH}
You can decorate your very own pumpkin the Ghost Town Pumpkin Patch in Calico Town Square. For a nominal fee the kids can create their own spooky (or cute!) jack-o-lantern as a memento of their fun day at Knott's Spooky Farm or decorate a cookie.

There is also free coloring sheets and fun photo opps too!

{CAMP SNOOPY WITH THE PEANUTS GANG}
Or as I like to call it during this time of year - CAMP SPOOKY! It is all decked out from head to toe in cute and spooky decorations! It is probably my most favorite spot in the park - especially since they have even decorated the grounds around the waterfall! I just love it! While you're there be sure to visit The Grand Sierra Railroad and take a ride on "A Trip to Camp Spooky"! It's super cute and totally in the Halloween spirit.

You will also find your favorite Peanuts characters decked out in their Halloween costumes and be able to snap a few pictures with them in the meet and greet area. Plus, stop by the Campy Snoopy Theatre for the Peanuts Costume Contest (we won one year!) and then join the Peanuts characters in a dance party!!! While you're there, you'll also want to watch the Peanuts gang in The Monsters Are Coming, Charlie Brown! You'll be dancing and singing along with your favorite Halloween tunes.

{HIT ALL THE PHOTO OPPS}
There are so many great photo opps at Spooky Farm this year! My girls both loved the wings! You also have to see the pumpkin fountain near Johny Rockets and don't miss the beautiful pumpkins over near the Mystery Lodge waterfall.

{MAKE THE MOST OF KNOTT'S SPOOKY FARM}
I often get asked by friends how they can make their visit to Knott's Berry Farm the very best because they want to get the most out of their visit. So, I've got a few tips to help you have the best time during Spooky Farm so you enjoy all that it has to offer during the Halloween season.

ARRIVE EARLY
During Knott's Spooky Farm the park opens at 9:00am. I suggest arriving at the park by 8:30 to get yourself parked and in line so you can hit up your favorite rides first thing in the morning. We always swing right as we enter the park and hit up Sidewinder and Camp Snoopy and JT rushes over to Silver Bullet so we can get on some of our favorites before it gets busy.

MAKE A PLAN
You can access a map and a daily schedule online and they'll have them when you get to the park. These make it easy to plan out what shows and attractions you want to make sure you don't miss.

FAST LANE PASSES
Since Knott's Spooky Farm takes place on the weekend the park will be busy. If you're out to make the most of your riding experience, you may want to consider Fast Lane Passes. We have had them several times over the years and they are awesome! We got to ride the Halloween Hootenanny three times this time because we had Fast Lane Passes! The price varies depending on the date of your visit, so be sure to check into before you go.

BECOME A SEASON PASS HOLDER
I loved being a season pass holder because we could come whenever we wanted and leave whenever we wanted. The 2019 Season Pass price is only slightly more than the cost of a day's admission, so I highly recommend it if you want the most bang for your buck.

With a 2019 Season Pass you will get to enjoy all of the Seasons of Fun next year but will also receive one free admission to use in 2018. You can get your Season Pass now at the Best Offer of the Year! Regular passes are just $95 or eleven easy payments of $7.50 and Gold Season Passes are $115 or eleven payments of just $9. These offers end October 28, 2018. Applicable taxes and fees apply online. Payment plans are only available at knotts.com

Remember that Knott's Spooky Farm is only here weekends now through October 28th and on Halloween Day!!! Have a SPOOK-A-RIFIC time!!

Wipe Out Breast Cancer with VIOC and Pink Wiper Blades #WipeOutBreastCancer

Disclosure:  I partnered with Valvoline Instant Oil Change for this project, however opinions here are my own.

{WIPE OUT BREAST CANCER}
I've always loved October because of Halloween and the start of Fall weather here in Southern California, but when one of my closest friends was diagnosed with breast cancer almost five years ago, and began the battle of her life against this invasive beast, October took on a whole new meaning for me. Then, when my sweet mother-in-law was diagnosed almost two years ago with breast cancer, I started looking for small ways I could help bring more attention to this terrible cancer that affects one in eight woman in their lifetime.

I am in my car a lot of hours during the day, usually as a mom taxi - I know most of you are right there with me! So, when I found out that participating Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) locations are selling and installing special PINK AutoTex wiper blades, I knew I needed them! It would be a way to show my support for Breast Cancer Awareness wherever I go!

There are two options for the blades - full PINK wiper blades or black wipers with a small pink ribbon. You can find a participating VIOC location by visiting viocpink.com. Your car will look awesome and proceeds from the PINK AutoTex wiper blades will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Through the Wipe Out Breast Cancer campaign, VIOC has been able to raise $86,500 for the NBCF to date. The blades fit 98% of cars, trucks, and SUVs manufactured after 2003, so visit https://www.vioc.com/pink-wipers, find your participating location and get your PINK wipers to show your support!!

{VALVOLINE INSTANT OIL CHANGE}

Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) is a full service 15-minute drive thru oil change with no appointment needed. It is just what a busy mom needs. You pull up, wait in line (if there is one), and stay in your car while they change your oil and put your new PINK wiper blades on. It is a fabulous service for a busy mom! The kids don't have to get out of the car, the wait is minimal and you don't need an appointment. You can zip in and zip out and your oil will be brand new!

VIOC also does much more than change oil! They perform a lot of other services including tire rotations, belt replacements, fluid exchanges, battery services and air conditioning recharges. Then, once your PINK wiper blades are installed, snap a picture, and go to the PINK MY RIDE PHOTO CONTEST for a chance to win up to a year of free oil changes.

{DOUBLE DONATION DAY AND VIOC COUPON}
On National Mammography Day, October 19th, VIOC will be making DOUBLE DONATIONS on all PINK wiper blades sold that day. So, be sure to grab the coupon below, get your oil change, and purchase your PINK WIPERS on October 19th to help get more bang for the buck for NBCF.

The coupon is good for $10-15 off your oil changes (depending on the type of oil you use) and makes getting your oil changed at VIOC an even sweeter deal.
