Monster Jam Returns to Angel Stadium of Anaheim 2018

MONSTER JAM returns to Angel Stadium of Anaheim in 2018!! Orange County residents must love the 12,000 lb Monster Jam trucks as much as my family does, because they've added a 5th weekend event this year! This means that Anaheim has more Monster Jam events than any other city in the country!!

2018 Monster Jam will be at Angel Stadium weekends January 13 - February 25, 2018. There will be MORE action, BIGGER trucks, and the ULTIMATE in speed, racing, and stunts.

This year's MONSTER JAM lineup features appearances by fan favorites like Grave Digger, MAX-D, El Toro Loco, Bounty Hunter, Son Uva Digger, Avenger, VP Racing Fuel's Mad Scientist and Overkill Evoltion. In addition to these MONSTER JAM powerhouses, SEVEN trucks will be making their Anaheim debut appearances. Let's give a big SoCal welcome to BroDozer, Whiplash, Mutant, Rammunition, Hotsy, Black Pearl and Megalodon.

New in 2018 fans in every city will have the chance to vote for the truck winner in the DONUT, WHEELIE, and FREESTYLE competitions by real-time, in-arena fan voting on their smartphones. Monster Jam is one of the only sports where men and female world-class drivers are equals competing for the same championship on the same track. I know that my girls LOVE that there are female drivers to cheer on during Monster Jam.

Five Awesome Monster Jam Tips and Tricks #MonsterJam

We went to Monster Jam at Angel Stadium over the weekend and had a blast! We went about 3 years ago when I was pregnant with Grace and so it was so fun to have her be there this time. Monster Jam will be back at Angel Stadium on February 11th and 25th and I've got some great tips to help you enjoy the jam.

TIP #1 - GET PIT PARTY PASSES

They are only $10 and it is so much fun! We didn't go the last time we went because I was 8 months pregnant, but I'm sure glad we went this time! You can see the trucks up close and even meet the drivers! There's also the opportunity to ride inside a monster truck and lots of yummy food options for sale.

TIP #2 - GET TO THE PIT PARTY EARLY

This is a lesson we learned this time. If you want to see some of the most popular drivers (aka Grave Digger or MAX-D), you will want to get there early to get a pass to see them. The passes don't cost anything, but the Monster Jam Security Supervisor told me that  they only click out 200 tickets per MAX-D and Grave Digger. If you don't have a pass, then you can't even wait in line to meet the drivers. You can still take pictures with the truck, but you won't be able to meet the driver. There was a handful of people that were in a "stand-by" line just in case they had extra time before the Pit Party closed, but they weren't guaranteed the opportunity to see them.

Also, even if you don't care about seeing MAX-D or Grave Digger, at about 20 minutes to the end of the Pit Party, they close the lines to all the drivers. So if you've waited to get there the last hour (like we did), you might miss a driver you wanted to see if it's close to the Pit Party closing.

TIP #3 - GRAB FRIENDS AND TAILGATE

The Pit Party is 2:30-5:30, but the show doesn't start until 6:30. So, if you come early to meet your favorite drivers at the Pit Party there's a good chance you'll have at least an hour or two before Monster Jam starts to kill. We saw so many people tailgaiting and having a great time! We decided it was a great idea and that we should do it next time. We got to the Pit Party about 4:30 and so we still had an hour before Monster Jam. The kids were hungry because it was dinner time, so we had to walk about a mile to the restaurants nearby to get them some food. As we walked by all the tailgaters we sure were envious of their delicious smelling food!

TIP #4 - DITCH YOUR BAGS IF YOU CAN

The lines to get into the venue are LONG due to the extra security measures, which I totally appreciate, because I want to be safe. However, I noticed that the lines for those with "no bags" were significantly shorter and moved more quickly. I have a toddler, so being bag free isn't an option for me right now, but if you can leave yours in your car, then you'll save yourself a lot of time. 

I also noticed that closer to start time, the lines at Gates 3-5 were shorter than Gates 1-2. I think that's because the parking lots near gates 3-5 are where the early coming Pit Pass holders park. Closer to start you are most likely parking on the other side of the stadium. So, there are a lot of people trying to enter. When we walked back from dinner the lines for Gates 1 and 2 were OUTRAGEOUS! It was almost 6:30PM and I was sure we were going to miss the start. We kept walking and when we got to

GATE 3 we had like a 7-8 minute wait as opposed to 150 people in front of us.

TIP #5 - DON'T FORGET YOUR EAR PROTECTION

Monster Jam is LOUD! I was trying to be all cool and not wear any, but after awhile I was like, I need some ear plugs! Luckily my husband was smarter than I was and had me throw some little ear plugs in my purse before we left. So about 30 minutes into the show, I put mine in too. I'm pretty sure my husband got the kids' over the ear protection at Walmart for around $5-8 and I was glad they had them!

TIP #6 -HAVE A BLAST!

There really is nothing like the good, clean fun of Monster Jam. It something our whole family enjoys. My brother, 5 year old, and my Dad went to see it when it was in Utah earlier in January. No matter how old you are or if your a boy or girl, you'll find yourself picking a favorite, getting sucked into the excitement, and cheering when one of the trucks completes a BACK FLIP!!!

MONSTER JAM returns to Angel Stadium of Anaheim celebrating  its 25th year with the car-crushing, dirt-flying action SoCal has come to expect from the 2,000 horsepower engines. The world's best monster trucks are ready to battle it out for four Saturday events January 14th-February 25th, 2017.

This year's MONSTER JAM lineup features appearances by fan favorites like Grave Digger, MAX-D, El Toro Loco, Bounty Hunter and Metal Mulisha. In addition to these MONSTER JAM powerhouses, SEVEN trucks will be making their Anaheim debut appearances. THE WOMEN OF MONSTER JAM
MONSTER JAM makes history in 2017 with the most ever professional female monster truck drivers - 12 in total. Four of the female drivers will be competing in various Anaheim events, including the youngest ever female drive, 19-year-old Rosalee Ramer driving Wilde Flower. In addition, the first female MONSTER JAM driver "Queen of Carnage" Medusa will be making her farewell Anaheim appearance at the February 11th Pit Party event.

Monster Jam Will Rock You! #monsterjam

This weekend I took the family to see Monster Jam for the very first time.
It was so much fun!!!!
I had never been to Monster Jam before and neither had my kids, so it was a new
experience for most of us.
When I envisioned Monster Jam I thought it would be big giant trucks
rolling over smaller cars and maybe even one another.
I had no idea that the monster trucks raced each other and then did freestyle tricks.

There were several rounds of Monster Jam racing where the monster truck
race in pairs to try and defeat one another so they can qualify for the next round.
It got pretty intense sometimes with trucks stalling out at the last minute, getting flat
tires or running into the obstacles. It was never dull and you were always wondering
if your favorite would move on!



The winner of Monster Jam racing was Mohawk Warrior.
I love the mohawk on the top of this monster truck and it was a big hit with JT.

It was even cooler when the driver, George Balhan, got out of his truck and he had a mohawk!
I didn't realize what a cult following the trucks and drivers have and how 
interactive the drivers try to be with the audience.
When George won, he took his Monster Jam trophy out to the audience and
gave it to one of his biggest fans. So cool!

After the racing portion is the freestyle and if I thought the racing was exciting,
the freestyle was crazy!!!!!! There were monster trucks trying tricks
and stunts all over the place, with several landing upside down or crashing
and taking themselves out of the running because they were on FIRE!
JT especially loved this portion of Monster Jam and really got into cheering.

Grave Digger captured the win in the Monster Jam Fox Sports 1  Freestyle Competition.
It was so cool to see Grave Digger compete. I remember hearing about this legendary
monster truck when I was a kid growing up, but since I'd never been to Monster Jam,
I never knew just how awesome it was!

Today JT and Isabella had the rare opportunity to see the SoCal Monster Jam debut 

of the New Earth Authority Authority Police Truck  - which is driven by real life

Oregon police officer Lieutenant Norm Miller.

The shiny chrome-plated monster truck is modeled after police riot gear helmet 

and it is ready restore peace and order to Monster Jam!

Oregon police officer Lieutenant Norm Miller and an officer from the Anaheim Police Department

met with kids from the Anaheim YMCA to receive a monster-sized surprise Friday after school.

They received a special visit from the new NEA Police Truck, had the opportunity to take pictures

with the truck, receive autographs from Lt. Miller and Officer Fernandez, and hear

all about how Lt. Miller is an officer by day and Monster Jam driver by night.

Both JT and Isabella enjoyed seeing a Monster Jam truck up close and personal

for the first time ever. JT told everyone at school about what he was doing today -

including the mom that drove carpool! I liked that Lt. Miller took time to talk with the kids,

answer their questions, and share how important safety is when riding in cars and riding bikes.
