Minty Cool Color Block Nails with Sally Hansen

Now that it's Spring I've been feeling the itch to start up my Mani Monday shares again.
I'm so inspired with all the great bright colors for Spring.
I love perusing the nail polish colors and thinking of all the great
color combos that can be paired for great color block designs.
I love the look of color block nails - they're so clean and fresh.

I saw this great mint and orange outfit via Polyvore
and so when I headed to Walgreens on Saturday with Isabella to shop for some
Sally Hansen manicure supplies, I knew just which colors I was looking for.
I was super excited to to find that Walgreens had the Sally Hansen Extreme Wear polish and Salon Effects on sale for two for $5 with 1,000 points using my Balance Rewards card.
I love a good deal!!!!

When I saw the Mint Sorbet from the Sally Hansen Sweet Stripes -
I knew I found the perfect match.
Since the Extreme Wear nail polish was on such a great deal, I had to stock up.
Plus, I let Isabella choose a few colors. Can you tell which colors she picked?

First I started with a base coat.
When I first started doing my nails I never bothered with a base or a top coat.
However, over the months of doing my own manicures I found out
that a base and top coat make a big different in the longevity and uniformity of a manicure.

Next I grabbed my Mint Sorbet and Sun Kissed Extreme Wear polish.
I put down a coat of Mint Sorbet and let it dry for about 20 minutes.
The first mistake I made when trying the taped method for achieving stripes was
applying the tape too soon and it just melted to my polish.

I used washi tape to create my color block sections.
It worked great. It's not too sticky, but still makes a nice seal.

Place the tape across your nail at an angle.
I like to do a different angle for each nail.

Then paint the nail in the same manner as the bottom color.
I wait 30-60 seconds and then remove the tape.
Be careful not to get too much polish on the first swipe.
If there is too much it will run/bleed when you remove the tape.

Woohoo! Then I have a beautifully color blocked nail courtesy of Sally Hansen.

I added an accent stripe with the white Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen.
I really love how the entire look turned out!

You can keep up with Sally Hansen and Walgreens on Twitter!
