Mothering Day: A Celebration of Women

I recently read a wonderful post by Lara at Less Cake More Frosting,
and she totally captured everything I believe about this
fabulous day - known as Mother's Day.

She said:
Mothering, the act of caring for another. Now THAT is a universal trait given to women. All women. A celebration of the things that make women unique. That make them inherently giving, and nurturing, and soft. Those are still the things I love in my mother. But they are also things I adore in my son's school teacher. Or in my Aunts. Or in women that I admire. And they are traits that I hope to work on in myself. And perfect.

So I join with Lara in renaming this day Mothering Day.
To join in celebrating all women today.

Sheri Dew said,
Motherhood is more than bearing children, though it is certainly that. It is the essence of who we are as women. It defines our very identity, our divine stature and nature, and the unique traits our Father gave us.

She goes on to say:
As daughters of our Heavenly Father, and as daughters of Eve, we are all mothers and we have always been mothers. And we each have the responsibility to love and help lead the rising generation.

So Happy Mothering Day to all the women in my life.
I'm so blessed to have been raised by a wonderful mother.
I am blessed to have a wonderful mother-in-law.
I am blessed with wonderful Grandmas, Aunts, sisters, sister-in-laws, and friends.
I love the amazing legacy of woman that has proceeded me.
