Pretty Baby Bibs: {Waverize} It!

To kick off the celebration, I received some beautiful Waverly fabric so that I

could Waverize something in my home. My little baby niece Pollyanna needed

some super soft and adorable bibs to keep her drooly little habit at bay.

So my sister sent me some bamboo organic cotton towels and asked me to pair

it with a pretty, soft fabric for the front side.

When I opened my surprise package of Waverly fabric and found this gorgeous

floral home decor loveliness staring back at me, I knew it would be perfect for the bibs.

I had my sister scan in a bib that fit my niece, I printed it off and used it as

a template to create my pattern for the new bibs.

Then, while watching some good old Jeff Lewis: Interior Therapy one evening,

I set to cutting out a bunch of pretty bibs.

The fabric is fantastic and paired well with the bamboo cotton towels.

It washed up nicely and my niece will soon be sporting some gorgeous bibs

in her new homeland of Korea - making all the babies jealous.

Rainbow Fabric Strip Garland Tutorial

Last year I made a couple of fabric strip garlands thanks to Kara Noel,

This year I decided my St. Patrick's Day decorations needed

a rainbow fabric strip garland to add to the festiveness.

So I made one using the various scraps I have left over from

lots and lots of projects - and so this project cost me ZIP!

For this project you'll need:

*5 different fabrics for each of the colors of the rainbow

*about 7ft of baker's twine

*rotary cutter and cutting mat

For the fabric I dug through my stash and found five different fabrics

for each of the colors of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow green, blue, purple.

You can really use scraps since you need less than an 1/8 of a yard of each fabric you use.

Cut the fabric into 1x9" strips with your rotary cutter.

You'll only need five strips of each fabric you are using.

This means you will end up with 25 of each color for a total of 150 strips.

Then grab some baker's twine.

I used this great twine I got from Pick Your Plum.

It's sturdier than other baker's twine I've used, but comes

in lots of fun colors.

You'll need about 7" feet.

It will depend on how large the mantel/space is that you're hanging your garland.

Fold your strip of fabric in half - with wrong sides together - 

and place it behind the baker's twine - like the photo below.

Then flip the little tails over the baker's twine and pull it through the loop you created.

Then pull it tight.

To make the rainbow go in the ROYGBV order, you'll need to start with purple.

I used an ABCDE-ABCDE pattern for my fabric.

How's that for some Kinder math for you?

This means I alternated with the five fabrics five times instead

of grouping all five of the same fabric strips together.

I really love how it turned out and it's a great project to do with a friend.

I cut 10 of each fabric so that I could make one and so could

Kara Noel while we spent a crafty Friday afternoon together.

You could make it shorter or longer depending on your needs.

The 150 strips fits my 5ft bar/mantel perfectly.

 It pairs perfectly with my LUCKY letters from Well Good.

Now I want to decorate my entire house with rainbow garlands,

but I don't think my husband would go for that decor scheme.
