5 Reasons Your Family Will Love Medieval Times + {{GIVEAWAY}}

Disclosure: We were guests of Medieval Times for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

If you've never been to Medieval Times - how have you let that happen? - and
even if you have, I have five reasons your family will love this fun dinner spot.
Medieval Times is located on Beach Blvd in Buena Park - just down the street
from Knott's Berry Farm. You can't miss it, because it looks like a giant castle
and has a beautiful medieval themed mural painted on the building.
we drive by the "castle" - as my kids call it - they ask when they can go again.

So, let's get started with the FIVE REASONS YOUR FAMILY WILL LOVE
MEDIEVAL TIMES.

{1} YOU GET REALLY COOL CROWNS!
Who doesn't like being treated like royalty and wearing a crown? We all love
finding out which knight we'll be cheering on for the show and getting to
wear crowns in our knight's color! The red knight is one of are favorites, so
they were really psyched when we got fitted with red crowns upon checking
in at the front desk.

{2} YOU GET TO EAT BABY DRAGON
Ok, so it's not really baby dragon - it's chicken - but your server will tell the kids
it is baby dragon and they all freak out like, "Is it really mom?!" And they want
to dive right in with their hands and tear their chicken apart because eating
dragon sounds so much cooler than chicken. The bill of fare is delicious! You
won't be disappointed in the menu and there is so much food, you just might
take home leftovers to enjoy the next day!

{3} YOU GET TO EAT WITH YOUR HANDS
What? You didn't get any silverware? Nope, it's not a mistake! You're eating with
your hands. My first time at Medieval Times I searched for the spoon for my
tomato bisque soup for a full minute, before my husband said - "You pick it up
and drink it!" Oh!!!! You drink it!!! Your napkin is nice and sturdy and is great
for cleaning up your hands after you dig into your baby dragon. Plus, your
server will bring you a wet wipe at the end of the meal to get the rest of
remnants of food so you leave feeling fresh!

{4} THE ROYAL FALCONER!
I don't think I need to even say more, because, THE ROYAL FALCONER! The
royal falconer commands the falcon with just the simple tools of the trade. You
will be amazed as the falcon swoops through the arena and then dives back to the
falconer on command. It really is amazing and I'd love if they added a little
more of the royal falconer to the show because the whole thing is amazing!

{5} EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY WILL BE CAPTIVATED
If you know Grace, and even if you don't, you've probably heard that she is a
high maintenance little bag of spunk. Once she decides she's done with
something, it's over and nothing you say and no amount of chocolate are going
to keep her in her seat because she is ready to move on. It's happened to us at
the movies and I end walking the hallway with her so everyone else can enjoy
the show. So, I was worried that I'd be hanging out in the lobby while the rest of
the family enjoyed the show. Nope. She was captivated. She asked questions,
wanted to know what the bad guy was going and cheered for the red knight with
more vigor and vim that anyone in that arena. So, if you're worried about the
show keeping everyone's attention, there's no need. You'll all be hooked until
the very end!

{6} BONUS - THE SHOW ROCKS
This goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, the show at Medieval Times is
fantastic. It's not stop action, and I know from personal experience that those
weapons are no joke! They're 100% real and so are the sparks they send flying
when they clash. A king, a fair princess, a villianous stranger, and knights -
how can it not be amazing? You will love it!

{{NEW}} An American Girl Story - Ivy and Julie 1976: A Happy Balance #IvyandJulie

Disclosure: This American Girl post was sponsored by KidzVuz for Amazon Studios. All opinions are my own.

I love the American Girl brand because it inspires girls to be their best, stand
up for what is right, and encourages them to follow their dreams. My Isabella
loves her Melody and Grace American Girl dolls and she was in heaven when we
She loves reading the stories and learning more about girls from different time
periods and locations. I like that it broadens her perspective and helps her to
appreciate all that she has been blessed with as a girl growing up now.

On Friday, March 24th Amazon Original Special An American Girl Story -
Ivy and Julie 1976: A Happy Balance will be released on Amazon Prime
Video in the US, UK, Germany and Austria. This new American Girl Story is
set in 1976 San Francisco and chronicles the life of Ivy Ling - a 10-year-old
Chinese-American girl who is trying to find a balance between her Chinese
traditions and obligations and her desire to be like her all-American
best friend, Julie.

I think that all girls go through a period in their life when the grass looks greener
on the other side and you wish you could trade places with your best friend. I
know there were times I wished my mom and dad would let me go to sleepovers
like Jenna's parents or that I could go to the NKOTB concert in 5th grade like
Tiffany's mom took her. However, I think there comes that awakening when you
appreciate all that your parents and grandparents have done to give you the life
that you have and your grass, though maybe a different shade of green, is just
as beautiful as those around you!

Ivy loves gymnastics and it is the most important thing to her - it's her signature
piece. She would definitely prefer to spend her Saturdays getting in extra
practice  than at Chinese school learning Mandarin. However, when her
All-City gymnastic competition happens to fall on the same day as her family's
big Chinese New Year  dinner she is torn.
She turns to her best friend, Julie, to help her make a difficult choice - the
gymnastic meet or the the big family dinner.

I love the scene when Ivy's grandparents share their stories how how they came
to America and how it was difficult for them to find their place in a country. As
she listens to their stories Ivy comes to realize that grandparents also struggled
to find the balance between their Chinese heritage and being "an American".

Another one of my favorite scenes is when Ivy and her mom come to understand
one another and find a compromise that makes both of them happy. I love when
daughters are portrayed as honoring and loving their mothers instead of
resenting them - as is prevalent in media these days. My mom is one of my best
friends and I appreciate all she has done for me and I hope my daughters will
feel that way about me as they grow up. Not to say that I always agreed with her
and didn't wish to wiggle my toes in the grass on the other side every once in
awhile, but I grew up knowing I was loved and that my mom wanted the best
for me and my future.

We popped some popcorn, grabbed Melody and Grace, and snuggled on the
couch to watch Ivy and Julie 1976: A Happy Balance. It was a lot of fun to spend
time with Isabella and watch an uplifting movie and encourages her to find her
own way and make important choices, but to also value her mother's opinion
and remember that family is very important.

Will Ivy follow her dreams and compete in the All-City gymnastic meet or will
she honor her family obligations and go to the Chinese New Year dinner? You'll
have to sign into Amazon Kids Prime Video on March 24th and watch the movie
to find out!

TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #329

The kids and I went to a screening of The Boss Baby over the weekend
at Dreamworks Studios and it was a blast! The kids dressed like
bosses, we played with puppies, ate yummy snacks and learned how to
draw The Boss Baby with one of the animators. It was a lot of fun!
The movie is darling! All three kids were laughing at all the funny
baby humor.

P.S. Today is my boss baby's birthday and she's three! Can you believe that?!

TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #328

I had the opportunity last week to attend the First Year Birthday celebration
of the Southern California Great Wolf Lodge. It was my first time at the
Great Wolf Lodge and it was such a fun place! The management and staff
were so kind and the spring food menu items were amazing! To celebrate, they
had an origami artist make the largest origami birthday cake. It was 9 feet tall!
Have you ever been to The Great Wolf Lodge? What was your favorite thing?

New Ruby's Diner at Promenade at Downey Debuts Table-Top Ordering Technology

The Promenade at Downey is now home to the newest Ruby's Diner! This
newest location opened its doors March 1, 2017 and is located in the heart of
the popular Promenade at Downey. However, this isn't just any new Ruby's
Diner location - it is the first location to roll out table-top ordering technology.
This means that for the first time, you can order your favorite burger, fries, and
shake through the touch of an easy to use digital menu that is conveniently
located at your table!

I had the chance to attend the media night and try out the new table-top
ordering technology and it is so easy to use! I found it easy to navigate and
I had no problem locating our family favorites, adding them to "basket" and
then sending our order to the kitchen. It was so easy to customize our order -
like removing the mayo from my Fresh Roast Turkey Breast Sandwich or
adding cheese to Grace's Kid-sized Beef Burger. My server was always close by
to answer any questions I had or to help me find what I was looking for.

Don't want to use the new table-top ordering technology? No problem! Ruby's
full-service team members will still be ready and waiting to deliver the
traditional level of personal service that you've come to expect from Ruby's
over the years.

The new Downey location not only has the new table-top ordering technology,
it also has the all-new breakfast menu that Ruby's unveiled January 23rd.
Believe me, you're going to want to check out the delicious new breakfast
menu items. The Southern Fried Benny is amazing!

The Downey Ruby's Diner will be open Sunday-Thursday 7am-10pm
and Friday-Saturday from 7am-11pm. It is conveniently located in the
heart of the popular Promenade at Downey across from the Cinemark
Theaters.

The Promenade at Downey is located on historical ground with
roots in aerospace and film. The decor of the new restaurant is a nod to
Downey's aviation and aerospace history. If you have a airplane lover in
the family - they will love the ambiance of the newest Ruby's Diner.

TOO Cute Tuesday: Linky Par-Tay! #327

Happy March! Can you believe that we are in March already?
I'm in denial, mostly because it means my baby will be three years old
this month. Stop it. I can't! We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday last week
in style. Thing One decided he wanted to be the Lorax, but I still think
they look dang cute!!!
